Many Acura vehicles are equipped with radios that require a special anti-theft radio code. This code is not required, unless the radio is removed from the vehicle, or the vehicles battery is disconnected.

You should try to always have a copy of your radio code in a safe place, not in the vehicle!

Acura calls this feature "Anti-theft". Its purpose is to prevent unauthorized users of your radio and will not allow your car stereo to operate without the proper code.

Acura began using the antitheft feature, around the 1990 and is still used in many Acura vehicles today!

Retrieving your antitheft unlock code is simple. We will need your radio serial number.

Step 1 - Determine radio type

We will need: Radio serial#

Acura will have two ways of retrieving radio serial#.

Type 1 or Type 2

 

DEPENDING ON VEHICLE.

 

 

Step 2 -  Retrieve radio serial#

With key in the "on" position:

  • Press preset buttons 1 and 6 at the same time.
     

  • Turn on radio.
     

  • An 8 digit serial number will appear on display. (if stereo was locked up at the time).
     

    •

  • NOTE: Example, If your display indicates L512 3 U123 5

You must enter your radio serial# in the order form below:

  • EXACTLY AS YOU SEE IT ON YOUR RADIO DISPLAY

  • IN THE PROPER ORDER

  • Be sure to include the "smaller" digits!
     

  • Write this number down, as you will need this number for form below.
     

 

Type 2

  • Your vehicle requires that you remove the radio from the vehicle in order to retrieve your radio's serial number.
     

  • We do not support the removal of your audio system,

  • Radio serial#

    1. May start with B or other letter and will be at least 8 to 10 characters.

    2. There will be no ( - ) dashes, and no spaces in radio serial#

    3. B21560612 ( Example of a typical Acura radio serial# )

    4. (Found on top of vehicles radio. You must remove radio from vehicle in order to retrieve radio serial number).

    5. Some vehicles may have AM\FM receiver and cd player or cassette player "bolted" together

    6. You must "separate" both units to find radio serial# and model# found on top or on chassis of AM\FM receiver  to retrieve radio serial#/model#.

     

     

    Radio model#

    1. May start with "CQ"or CM

     
 

 

Step 3 - Purchase code

 

 

 

You will receive your radio unlock code, via E mail !
Approximate code retrieval time is 30 minutes to 24 hours
after receiving radio information (radio serial, etc)

Q. How long does it take to receive my radio unlock code?

A. Usually within 30 minutes to 24 hours,

(after receiving radio information, radio serial#, radio model# etc).

 

 

Q. How will I get my code?

A. All codes are sent via email.

 

 

 

Q.It has been 24 hours and I still have not received my code.

 

A:

  • We have not received your radio information via email, (Radio serial# Model# etc).

 

  • We have attempted to email your information but it comes back "undeliverable mail".( Make sure all "email blocking" software is off ).

 

  • Email sent to us is incorrect (Check email sent to us for incorrect spelling or send alternative email address).

 

  • No telephone number was sent to contact you in the "telephone# field"

 

  • The Telephone number sent was incorrect.

 

  • The serial# sent was incorrect (Recheck radio serial# and model# for accuracy).
