Every Lexus audio unit has an Audio Anti-Theft Security System built into it. If battery power is lost after a security code has been set, the unit disables itself and will not work again until the correct code is entered.
You will meet it after any of these:
SEC is the security prompt. The unit is powered and working — it is simply waiting for the code before it will produce sound.
On these units the code is three digits, not four or five.
Hold the button until the SEC on the display starts blinking. That is the unit telling you it is ready to accept the security code.
Now key in your three-digit security code ID number. Once the third digit lands, the system reactivates and the audio comes back.
There are two levels to the anti-theft system, and this is the part that catches people out:
If that happens you must wait 61 minutes. After the wait you get three more tries before it locks out again.
Which is the whole argument for getting the right code before anyone starts guessing. Three wrong guesses costs you an hour, every time.
