How to enter your Mitsubishi radio code

Why is my Mitsubishi radio asking for a code?

The audio system has an anti-theft system built in. If the vehicle is left in any of these conditions, the audio will not operate even once normal battery power is restored:

• The battery is discharged
• The fuse has blown
• Power supply from the battery has been disconnected

In those cases the security code has to be entered before it will work again.

How do I enter the code on a Mitsubishi radio?

1. Return the battery power supply to normal condition.
2. Place the ignition key in the ACC position.
3. Press the power knob to power up the radio. The display shows codE or CODE.
4. Use memory select buttons 1 through 4 to set the four-digit security code. Each press of a digit key advances that figure.

So if your code were 1342, you would use preset 1 to reach the first digit, preset 2 for the second, preset 3 for the third and preset 4 for the fourth — stepping each one up until the right number shows.

Before you disconnect the battery

If you have battery or electrical work coming up, find your code first. Far easier to have it in hand than to discover the radio is locked when the car comes back.
