This is the part that confuses people, so it is worth knowing before you start.
The physical lock. A section of the radio panel containing nine buttons (the quick selection buttons and others) is detachable. To release it: switch off the audio system, then slide the rectangular switch above that group of nine buttons to the right. With that section removed, the radio cannot be used at all.
The electronic lock. A four-digit code, programmed at manufacture, which cannot be changed. That is the one you enter below.
If the battery is disconnected, or the system is dismantled or disconnected for any reason, the four-digit code must be entered before the radio will work again.
Because the code is fixed at manufacture it is worth keeping somewhere safe — but never with the unit itself.
