Your Mercedes-Benz radio is showing WAIT instead of CODE. That means a wrong code has already been tried and the unit has entered a timed lockout.
Mercedes-Benz radios normally show CODE when they first lock, asking for the five-digit factory unlock code. WAIT appears instead once an incorrect code has been entered — it is a timed penalty, not a separate fault.
The lockout period roughly doubles with every failed attempt. A short wait after the first wrong try can stretch to a very long one after several, which is why guessing digits is not a shortcut — it makes the real fix slower.
The unlock code is matched to the radio's own serial number, not just the car's VIN. On most units the serial is printed on the radio body itself, which means removing the unit — the four corner keys at the fascia release it from the dash. Send us the serial number (and VIN where the order form asks for it) and we'll match it to the correct factory code.
