1 Find your radio serial number

Acura has two ways of retrieving it, depending on the year of your vehicle.

Type 1 — for 2001 and newer Acura vehicles

  • Turn the key to the "on" position.
  • Press preset buttons 1 and 6 at the same time.
  • Turn on the radio.
  • An 8- to 10-character serial number will appear on the display — usually U5123 L1235 format, sometimes 8 digits like 12345678.
  • Write it down — you'll need it for the order form.

Type 2 — for 2000 and older Acura vehicles

Older Acura models require you to remove the radio to read the serial number on its label.

Heads Up: Some vehicles require the radio to be removed to retrieve the radio serial number. Our service does not include radio removal. Free vehicle-specific removal videos are often available on YouTube by searching for your vehicle’s year, make, and model followed by “radio removal.”

About Acura radio unlock codes

Many Acura vehicles are fitted with a factory radio that uses an anti-theft security code. This Acura radio code is only needed if the stereo loses power — a dead or replaced battery, a disconnected battery, or a radio that was removed from the dash. When that happens the radio locks and will not play until the correct unlock code is entered.

We retrieve your Acura factory radio unlock code from the radio's serial number and email it to you, ready to enter using your preset buttons.
