How to Get Your Mitsubishi Radio Code

Why did my Mitsubishi radio lock?

Mitsubishi factory radios are protected by a four-digit security code. When the power is cut, the unit locks and shows codE until the right code is entered. It usually happens after:

A flat, replaced or disconnected battery.
A blown radio fuse.
Buying a used Mitsubishi without the code.

A locked radio is a working radio. It only needs its code — not a replacement unit.

What do I need to order?

Two numbers, both from the radio's label:

Model number — 5 or more characters.
Serial number — 3 or more characters.

Both are printed on a label on the side of the radio chassis, so the radio has to come out of the dash to read them. Copy each one exactly as printed. If you are unsure which number is which, email us a photo of the label and we will sort it out.

How do I enter the code on a Mitsubishi radio?

Make sure the battery is connected and power is back to normal.
Put the ignition key in the ACC position.
Press the power knob to turn the radio on. The display shows codE or CODE.
Use memory buttons 1 to 4 to set the four digits. Each press of a button advances that digit.

How do the memory buttons set the digits?

This is where Mitsubishi differs from most brands. Each of the first four memory buttons controls one position in the code, and each press steps that digit forward. So with a code of 1342, you use button 1 to reach the first digit, button 2 for the second, button 3 for the third and button 4 for the fourth, stepping each one until the right number shows. Can I just try a few combinations?

No. A four-digit code has ten thousand possibilities, and attempts are limited before a lockout. Wait for the correct code from us and enter it once, carefully. If the unit has already stopped accepting entries, read our page on lockouts after too many attempts.
